For potential volunteers who reside outside of Thailand:
DaLaa hosts volunteers for short term activities – workcamps (1-2 weeks), as well as for midterm and longterm volunteering projects (1 month – 12 months). For both options, the interested candidate must contact our partner organizations in their country of residence to find out about the open placements. Please refer to the local branches of the following international networks to find sending organisations:
SCI is a volunteer organisation dedicated to promoting a culture of peace by organizing international voluntary projects for people of all ages and backgrounds. The organisation consists of 43 branches and partners, including DaLaa.
CCIVS was created under the aegis of UNESCO in 1948 is a global network engaged in the field of International Voluntary Service. DaLaa is a full member of CCIVS since 2007.
NVDA (Network for Voluntary Development in Asia) is a network of international voluntary service (IVS) NGOs in Asia & Oceania. NVDA was founded in 1997 and now has 30 member NGOs in 20 countries/area.
Once you contact our partner in your country, they will become your sending organization, and DaLaa will act as a hosting organization. Your sending organization will provide you with the next steps, filling in the application form, making an appointment for a pre-departure training or seminar, etc.
We also cooperate with our international partners through governmental/European-based programs in receiving long-term volunteers. Volunteers who are take part in these programs usually receive some financial support from the managing institution. Here are some examples:
- Weltwärts (for German residents, through local partners such as SCI Germany)
- French Civic Service (for French residents, through local partners such as Solidarités Jeunesses)
- EU Aid Volunteers program for professional volunteering (for EU citizens, Junior and Senior).
If the volunteer is self-funded, the expenses that have to be covered are the following:
- Participation fee, which is used to cover the accommodation and food during the volunteer’s stay in Thailand, as well as the management of the running projects and of the organisation as a whole (DaLaa is a non-profit organisation that does not receive financial support from the government or from the private sector);
- All travel-related costs: travel tickets, visa, vaccines, pocket money, other personal stuff, etc.
You will receive the relevant information from the sending organisation regarding the exact amounts of the participation fee and the necessary steps to be taken for your preparation to volunteer in Thailand.
